Fruit, vegetables and flowers are living things
that are highly perishable and quickly lose quality, value and storage life
if not protected from excessive
moisture loss and cooled to low temperature
within a short time after harvest.
Modern postharvest equipment systems and technologies are essential to
ensure long storage life and high quality products for the domestic and
overseas markets.
Forced-Air Cooling (FAC)
Conventional cool rooms are designed to maintain cold temperatures and
not for rapid cooling of harvested products. FAC systems are designed to cool
fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers to low temperature many times faster
than conventional cool rooms to help minimize quality loss after harvest so that distant marketing and satisfaction
of export requirements are possible.
Ultra High Humidity (UHH) Cold Storage
Harvest fruit, vegetables and flowers lose moisture and shrivel quickly,
especially at high temperature and low air humidity. UHH cold storage
equipment minimizes quality loss and significantly extends storage life of
products by generating and maintaining an ultra high air humidity of up to 99% in
the cold room. |
